Uber Shutters Greenlight Hubs in Insult to Drivers
In the first weeks of January, Uber took away one of the last remaining resources for drivers to get support from an actual human being by closing their Greenlight Hubs across California.
Instead of a Greenlight Hub, where drivers were guaranteed the opportunity to speak to someone in-person for help with any issues, Uber is now funneling all support through phone and virtual channels.
By shuttering the hubs and moving to a virtual support system, Uber is once again proving that the only thing that matters to them is their bottom line – and the needs of drivers don’t matter at all.

We’re now stuck relying on apps, chats and, if we’re lucky, a phone call – with Uber agents who may not even live in California!
“Uber closing the Greenlight Hubs is a slap in the face to drivers. They already make it extremely difficult to get any support and now the problem is only going to get worse. It shows exactly how little they think of drivers and our needs,” said Hector Castellanos, a CGWU member and Uber driver from Antioch.
Greenlight Hubs are an important resource for drivers and shutting them down in a likely cost-saving measure is yet another insult to the drivers who make the company possible.
For Uber, Greenlight Hubs are disposable and drivers are disposable. That’s why we’ve got to fight back and win our union.
Together, we can hold Uber accountable for their greed and disrespect for drivers.
