Major Update! California Gig Workers Union Takes Landmark Step to Representing Gig Rideshare Drivers Throughout the State
They said it was impossible. We fought for over a decade. We took our case to Sacramento.
Uber and Lyft spent more than $200 million to try and stop us.
Today, we made history. Uber and Lyft drivers in the California Gig Workers Union have taken the first step of filing for union recognition with the state of California.

Our filing is the biggest shake up in the American labor movement in decades. When we form our union, Uber and Lyft drivers across the state will have a voice at work and a seat at the bargaining table across from global corporations that have fought tooth and nail to keep us voiceless.
Gig workers, like all workers, deserve a union. Through the relentless organizing of drivers like you, that will soon be a reality.

Every driver that signs a card makes our union that much stronger. We want the majority of eligible drivers to sign their card and commit to being union strong, solet’s hit the ground running!
We have to continue to sign up every driver we talk to. The faster we sign up other drivers, the faster we get to the table.
We’re closer than we’ve ever been. If you haven’t signed your card or been talking to other drivers, now’s the time to start!
